Updation of IEC on DGFT portal

 Directorate General of Foreign Trade (‘DGFT’) vide Notification no. 58/2015-2020 dated 12 February 2021 has amended the IEC related provisions under Chapter-1 and Chapter-2 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2023.

 

Vide above amendment, an Importer Exporter Code (IEC) holder has to ensure that details in its IEC is updated electronically every year, during April-June period. In cases where there are no changes in IEC details, same also needs to be confirmed online. Further, we wish to highlight an IEC shall be de-activated, if it is not updated within the prescribed time. Therefore, the last date to update the same for FY 2023-24 would be 30 June 2023.

 

Additionally, a Public Notice no. 49/2015-20 dated 31 March 2021 was issued in this regard which specifies the fees to be Nil for updation of IEC between April-June of each year.

Also, we have mentioned brief procedure for updating IEC on DGFT Portal below:

 

  1. Accessing DGFT Portal:
  • User needs to login on DGFT portal using URL: https://www.dgft.gov.in/CP/index.jsp# ;
  • In case user is not already registered on DGFT website, user need to register on DGFT Portal using the above URL;

 

  1. Link IEC: In case IEC has not already been linked to the profile, user need to link the same. Application for linking is required to be submitted using active DSC / Aadhar, wherever applicable;

 

  1. Updation of IEC on DGFT Portal:
  • Post login user need to click on “Update/ Modify IEC” appearing on the IEC Dashboard;
  • User needs to start new application by clicking on “fresh application” button. After this, application for IEC Updation will be opened;
  • User need to verify and provide the requisite details, if required, in each Section of the IEC Updation form;
  • DGFT Portal may require verification of E-mail Address and Mobile Number, if not verified on DGFT portal;
  • Once all details are verified/ filled, user needs to submit the application using active DSC / Aadhar, wherever applicable;
  • User can track the IEC application status after its submission
